Getting Started

  1. If you would like to ask for some counselling, please ring or email for an appointment, on 07436 324533    /    enquiries@petersfieldcounsellingservice.co.uk
  2. Our co-ordinator will get back to you as soon as possible, ideally within 3 working days, to book a time for you to meet for an intake appointment with one of our more experienced counsellors.  Our staff work part-time so will try to respond to you as quickly as possible.
  3. This appointment will last an hour.   The counsellor will invite you to say what help you are seeking, and ask you for some information about your circumstances.   This will help us to be sure that PCS is the best service for you, and to put you in touch with the most suitable member in our team to work with you.      If what you need cannot be provided by PCS, we will try to direct you somewhere that can help you.    You will be asked what times you could be available for counselling, and the more times you can offer, the sooner you should be able to start.     This first appointment is also a useful opportunity for you to ask any particular questions you may have about counselling, and for the counsellor to explain how we work.
  4. The number of people needing our support means we operate a waiting list so counselling is unlikely to begin immediately.  As soon as a counsellor is available, they will be in touch by phone to agree a time and place to begin counselling.
  5. You will see the same counsellor each week, at the same place and time.   Sessions last for 50 minutes.   We offer open ended counselling with reviews every 12 weeks to discuss how you feel you are progressing.  You will both begin to recognise when you have achieved what you needed.    It is always important to bring the work to an end gradually over at least a week or two, to avoid ending too abruptly.
